The Iraqi Ministry of Defense’s Security Information Cell said in a statement this Friday afternoon, May 16, that an improvised explosive device (IED) was exploded in Tarmiya District, north of Baghdad, near a military convoy and a number of forces were killed and wounded in the blast.
According to the Iraqi security press statement, the bomb went off on the way where forces from the First Commando Regiment were passing the region and as a result a major and one soldier were killed and four others were wounded.
Meanwhile Iraqi security media reported, in three separate statements on Friday morning, tat the killing of a civilian and a Hashd al-Shaabi force, the wounding of two other members and four security personnel, as a result of an improvised explosive device (IED) and the night raids carried out by elements affiliated with the terrorist group IS in the Kurdish district of Khanaqin, north of the border province of Diyala, the Jurf al-Nasr area, northwest Babil province, and the city of Samarra.
