Masrour Barzani will travel to Baghdad to pursue talks with central government: KDP deputy

<p style="text-align: left;">A representative of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in the Iraqi parliament announced the imminent visit of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister, Masrour Barzani, to Baghdad to follow up on the regional government's negotiations with the federal government.

Bashar Kiki told Shafaq News that Barzani is heading to Baghdad soon to follow up on the process of negotiations between the regional government and the federal government, stressing that the negotiations are under way to determine the fate of the outstanding cases, including oil export and the region&rsquo;s share of Iraq&rsquo;s national budget.

The Kurdish parliament deputy added that "a high-level delegation headed by Barzani will visit Baghdad in the coming days to follow up on the process of negotiations between federal and Kurdish governments, but such a trip is unlikely before Eid al-Fitr.&rdquo;

" The KRG has no problem with oil exports through the Somo Company (the state-owned Iraqi Oil Marketing Company) as well as the delivery of non-oil revenues to the federal government; in return the government should pay a fair share from the national budget, which is 14% based on the data of the Ministry of Planning.

The KDP representative reiterated that the Kurds should have representatives in the Somo Company, and this can be done through reforms in its administrative structure.

Kiki further added that in the recent talks between the two sides, the KRG informed the federal government that it should take responsibility for the cost of production, transportation and loans received by the regional government after Baghdad's budget was cut off in 2014.

The Kurdish MP continued negotiations between Erbil and Baghdad are under way normally, and &ldquo;the two sides are ready and serious to resolve unresolved issues and strengthen the relationship of federalism based on the constitution.

In conclusion, Keiki stressed the importance of enacting the oil, gas law and wealth distribution, noting that the Kurdish region's financial allocations, especially those of employees, will not be a part of political issues.
