Pointing to the sacking of Kurdish mayors and replacing government trustees, Yildirim Kaya said “ we remember such acts in the September 12th and March 12th coup. What is happening is the continuation of the July 20, 2016 coup. The measures taken against the HDP municipalities are no different from those of the coup d'etat era. The removal of those who have come to power by the vote of the people and the appointment of governors, or deputy governors instead of the elected mayors is the production of the coup. The appointment of government trustees as representatives of the people is not accepted in any way, and we emphasize that the appointments of the people should be dismissed by the people's vote."
According to Mezopotamya News Agency, Kaya further added that "everyone knows that in countries where democracy does not exist, a single and autocratic regime will be established. The imprisonment of mayors, politicians, leaders, and HDP representatives also demonstrates the lack of democracy in the country. In a country where there is no equality, where justice and equality does not exist; no one can speak of democracy.”
