A source in the Kurdistan Region Peshmerga Forces, who did not want to be named, was quoted by the Xendan news website as saying that ISIS elements attacked Iraqi army positions in the village of Mahmoudiyah in the Qaraj district of Makhmour, west of Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan Region.
According to the news, a fierce clash took place between ISIS and the Iraqi army following the attack, and ISIS elements fled to the Qarachug Mountains.
No casualties have been reported so far.
The source added that in another attack, ISIS elements attacked the village of Sabiran, east of Qarachogh in Makhmur, and abducted a 17-year-old boy, but the villagers were armed and attacked ISIS elements with the help of the Iraqi army and managed to save him.
