He made the remarks following a night where the security forces attacked protesters and killed at least two on Sunday,
“The moment I took office, I swore to preserve honesty and I maintain honesty: there will be early, free and fair elections,” Kadhimi tweeted.
“Whoever has an objection to the entirety of the ruling process should prepare for elections and not disrupt them. Those who want to restore Iraq do not speak slogans while sitting on the hill. They have to go to the ground and prepare people for the election,” he added
According to NRT Kadhimi said that he has asked the Council of Ministers, the leadership of the Council of Representatives Presidency, and the Iraqi presidency to remove any obstacles in the way of conducting elections before 2022, when they are currently scheduled to be held.
“I wish we had a magic solution, but several years of disruption, corruption, and mismanagement will not be solved in a day and night. It is not fair to ask a government that is two-months-old to pay for all the looting that the previous governments have done,” Kadhimi said according to a footage released by his media office.
“We have started an investigation into the incident at Tahrir Square and we will have the results of the investigation in 24 hours,” he said.
“The security forces are not allowed to fire at the protesters,” he added.
