The contribution comes as part of the efforts by the US-led coalition after the region’s budget was crimped by the fight against Islamic State and the drop in oil prices, NRT reported.
The money will be provided for Peshmerga as part of the Iraqi army or separately, the Peshmerga Ministry official Mohammed said without elaborating further.
The US House of Representatives in May passed the massive National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019, which includes $290 million for the Kurdish Peshmerga.
