This development occurs while the process of electing the president of Iraq was delayed and deadlocked in the past months due to political differences and competition among currents, and the determination of this time can be considered an important step towards completing the legal structures and political stability of the country.

The Iraqi political scene is witnessing intense movements to determine key positions and complete constitutional processes; A process that has been accompanied by the continuation of negotiations on the post of president. According to the Iraqi constitution, the election of the president is the responsibility of the parliamentarians, and the elected president is obliged to appoint the candidate of the parliamentary majority faction to form the government within 15 days.

The presidential candidates are: Abdullah Aliavi, Fawad Hossein, Nizar Mohammad Saeed, Shawan Hawiz, Ahmed Abdullah, Hossein Taha Hassan Mohammad, Najmuddin Abdul Karim, Aso Fereydoun, Saman Ali Ismail, Sabah Saleh Saeed, Iqbal Abdullah Amin Halevi, Sardar Abdullah, Mosna Amin, Khalid Sediq Aziz, Azad Majid, Rafi Abdullah, Salem Hawass, Latif Rashid.

It is worth mentioning that the two main Kurdish parties have not yet agreed on a common candidate. Fawad Hossein, Nazmard of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and Nizar Mohammad Saeed have been introduced as candidates of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.

According to the political tradition in Iraq, the prime minister is elected from among the Shiites, the president from among the Kurds, and the speaker of the parliament from among the Sunnis. However, the results of the November 11 parliamentary elections and the differences between the political currents have raised doubts about the possibility of adhering to the legal deadlines for the formation of the government.
