Nizar Amidi becomes President of Iraq

Iraq and Kurdistan region service - The candidate of the Patriotic Union Kurdistan was elected as the sixth president of Iraq with the most votes.   

According to Kurdpress, in the Iraqi parliament session, Nizar Amidi succeeded in being elected as the new president of Iraq by winning 227votes against 15 votes for Mothanna Amin, the candidate of the Islamic Union, the Kurdistan Justice Party, and the Patriotic Position Movement, as well as 7 invalid votes.       

As the sixth Kurdish president, he was able to esure this position based on the Patriotic Union Kurdistan's quota.

It is worth noting that the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Government of law coalition led by Nouri Al-Maliki boycotted the meeting.
