Kurdistan Democratic Party recalls its representatives from the Iraqi government and parliament

Iraq and Kurdistan region service – The Kurdistan Democratic Party decided to return its representatives from the federal government and parliament to Erbil in protest at the way the country's president was elected, declaring that the elected president did not represent the majority of Kurdistan.

 According to Al-Sumaria, the Kurdistan Democratic Party announced in a statement that the process of electing the president in the Iraqi House of Representatives was country to the internal regulations approved by the parliament, so that the presiding board of the parliament set the agenda of the meeting without paying attention to the regulations, which is considered a violation of the law.

The statement continued, stating that the nomination of a candidate for the presidency was outside the agreed mechanism of the Kurdish parties, while this position is the right of the people of Kurdistan, not a specific party. However, this candidate was nominated by a party and approved by several other Iraqi parties.

The Kurdistan Democratic Party also rejected the selection method.
