According to Kurdpress, the Prime Minister of Iraq, Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani, announced in an interview with Newsweek magazine that the country is ready to enter a new stage of strategic partnership with the United States of America.
According to the official Iraqi news agency, he emphasized that despite the escalation of regional tensions, his government has managed to keep Iraq away from entering the war and maintain internal stability.
Al-Sudani added that no country can accept the existence of multiplicity in security decision-making outside the framework of the government.
Referring to the recent developments, the Iraqi Prime Minister said that Iraq is no longer the scene of crises, but has become a strategic partner that deserves attention.
He also announced the attraction of more than 100 billion dollars of investment and the return of major global energy companies to this country.
Al-Sudani considered the goal of his government to create a powerful country that has the monopoly of deciding on war and peace and to strengthen its national sovereignty.
He added that the geographical location of Iraq allows it to become an important center in the field of trade and energy.
He asked Washington to establish relations based on mutual interests and not dependence with Baghdad and emphasized that Iraq has adopted a policy of balance and has distanced itself from regional conflicts despite the pressures.
Al-Sudani also said that the next stage requires deeper economic and security cooperation with America.
He emphasized that Iraq has been able to exercise its sovereignty and prevent it from becoming a regional battlefield despite extensive international and regional pressures.
According to him, Iraq today is more stable and attractive for investment than ever, and the government will not allow temporary security arrangements to become a permanent substitute for government institutions.
The Prime Minister of Iraq further mentioned the development road project and said that this project will turn Iraq into a world-class commercial corridor.
He also emphasized that relations with America should change from crisis management to strategic partnership.
Noting that Iraq has the fifth largest oil reserves in the world, Al-Sudani said that this country should be seen as an economic opportunity.
He considered diversification into international partners a strategic necessity, not just a political choice.
He emphasized that Iraq will not allow its territory to be used to attack neighboring countries and added that the main challenge is the government's arms monopoly.
Al-Sudani also noted that the return of international companies to Iraq indicates the improvement of stability in the country.
In the end, he said that Iraq can play the role of a bridge between Washington, Tehran and other countries in the region and emphasized that this country is looking for a partnership based on mutual respect, not models imposed from outside.
