According to Kordpress, Trump's special representative for Syria, Thomas Barak, at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, referring to regional developments, said that Syria has become a stage for testing new models of Middle East management by powers such as America, Russia, and China, and at the same time, diplomatic processes, including negotiations with Israel, are still ongoing.
According to Kurdi Valat news agency, Thomas Barak, Trump's special representative for Syria, announced in his speech at the "Antalya Diplomacy Forum" that Syria has become an important field for testing the new regional order in the current situation. He emphasized that this country has now become a "testing ground" for world powers, including Washington, Moscow and Beijing, to develop new models for managing the Middle East.
Barak also announced the continuation of the talks between Syria and Israel and said that despite the complications and differences, these talks are still going on. Referring to the position of the Syrian government regarding Israel's insistence on military presence, he clarified that despite all the difficulties, "progress has been made in the path of negotiations."
The American representative further pointed to the change of approach in the country's foreign policy and said that this approach was formed on the basis of "peace through the path of power and prosperity". According to him, within the framework of this policy, the United States intervenes only when necessary and instead emphasizes the principle that each region should be responsible for solving its own problems.
Referring to the structural changes in the world system after the Second World War, Barak stated that it is no longer possible to expect the great powers to be solely responsible for global security. He said: "Each region should solve its own issues and countries should take responsibility for their own security."
In another part of his speech, he described Syria as a "geopolitical laboratory" and explained that in this country, a multilateral approach is being implemented that is different from previous models. According to Barak, the international powers are trying to create new structures for the future administration of Syria without imposing a specific ideology.
The American representative also emphasized that in the current situation, there is an unprecedented opportunity to create a compromise between the various internal groups in Syria and even between this country and its neighbors. He referred to this situation as "the greatest opportunity of the last century for reconciliation."
Barak went on to praise Jordan's role, calling this country a successful example of providing regional solutions and saying that Jordan can act as a "roadmap" for crisis management in the Middle East.
In the end, referring to the change in the social atmosphere in Syria, he said: "Today, in the streets of Syria, there is not only hope, but signs of positive developments are also felt."
