KDP is closer to Maliki coalition, Barzani advisor

<p style="text-align:left">The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) is closer to Iraqi vice president Nouri al-Maliki's coalition rather than the coalition led by Prime Minister Haider al- Abadi, said Kafah Mahmoud, an advisor to KDP leader Masoud Barzani.

The advisor added that the KDP reluctance towards the Abadi-led coalition is related to the PM's punishing approach towards the Kurds after the independence referendum in the region.
He, however, added the Kurds do not have any red line in cooperation with Abadi and his coalition.
Mahmoud added the KDP and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) have reached agreements over pre- conditions to form alliance with Shiites for forming the new Iraqi goernment, adding that most of the preconditions are linked to the fate of the disputed regions that both Baghdad and Erbil, the capital of the Kurdish region, claim authority over.
