Al-Abadi Monday arrived in Basra where Iran's consulate was attacked by Iraqi violent protesters on Friday.
According to IRNA the visit was aimed at the investigation of the latest unrests in the Iraqi southern city.
The Protesters who are demanding better public services and more jobs have attacked some governmental offices in the oil-rich city since last week.
Referring to the latest unrest, al-Abadi also emphasized that security is a precondition for giving services to people.
A number of Iraqi officials and foreign ambassadors have already condemned the attack on Iran's consulate.
