Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said on Wednesday, November 7, that the US rewards offer was a positive role but “very, very late” step, and called on the US to adopt the same policy on the People’s Protection Units (YPG) as it did to the PKK.
“It is not possible for us to accept putting a bounty on PKK leaders on the one hand, and sending trucks of tools, weapons and ammunition to the YPG on the other,” he told state-owned Anadolu news agency.
Meanwhile, Spokesman of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Ibrahim Kalin, said the country would not ease its stance against the YPG to meet US expectations.
Kalin added Turkey viewed US’ move as positive but belated.
