“The PUK is ready for a new phase of negotiations and solutions to Iraq’s problems, and we have signed with the PDK on the agenda of the state-run coalition, which includes a number of points and requests from Shia, Sunni and Kurdish parties,” he said.
The PUK spokesman also noted that the situation in Iraq has been chaotic and unstable in the past and has affected the course and mechanism of the government’s formation discussions, PUK Now reported.
“Both PUK and KDP believe that the meetings of the Iraqi House of Representatives should resume, especially when the election of the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, and the question of forming the government cabinet will be through parliament” he added.
The Iraqi parliament is scheduled to hold a session today after the deadly clashes that earlier took place in the Iraqi capital in late August in which at least 30 people were killed, marking the first session since then.
It will also vote for the resignation of parliamentary speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi who earlier submitted it to the legislative chamber, and choose the first deputy speaker.
As the session is about to start strict security measures have been taken by the security forces in Baghdad’s Green Zone where the chamber is situated.
