Turkish warplanes once again shelled Mount Asos in the province of Sulaimani in Kurdistan Region, an official said on Sunday, December 3.
Mayor of Mawat district, Kamaran Hassan, stated that the Turkish jets launched airstrikes at 3:30 p.m. in the mountain.
A resident of Galala village in Mawat district told NRT that the warplanes carried out the strikes “nearly 30 times” but there were no casualties.
Mawat, 55 kilometers north of Sulaimani, is a well-known agricultural and vacation area for Kurdish and international visitors alike.
This is the fourth time since last month that the Turkish warplanes shelled the mountain, about 2 kilometers away from the Galala village in the district of Mawat.
On November 27, Turkish jets shelled the mountain and a number of villagers evacuated Galala village due to intense strikes.
