Iran ready to export gas to Kurdistan Region: official

<p style="text-align:left">he Iranian official in charge of developing economic ties between Iran and Iraq, Hassan Danaifar, said on Monday, January 7, that his country is ready to export gas into the Kurdistan Region through Halabja province.

Danaifar said at an economic development conference in Sine city, that two Iranian transportation lines had been prepared for the purposes of exporting gas, which together can carry 25 million cubic meters of gas.
&ldquo;We are ready to develop [infrastructure for] gas exports into Iraq. We are also ready to export it to the Kurdistan Region through Halabja province,&rdquo; Danaifar added.
Direct electricity exports into Iraq already occur from locations in Shamcha, Faka, and Kermanshah and Danai said that his government is ready to export electricity from Marivan city and the Tamarchin region as well, NRT reported.
In terms of tourism, Danaifar stated that over three million Iraqi people visited Iran last year and at least three million Iranians visited Iraq, demonstrating the close ties between the two countries.
In November, Iraqi President Barham Salih visited Tehran in a bid to develop trade relations between the neighbors.
Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif&rsquo;s is expected to visit Iraq and the Kurdistan Region later this month.
