<p style="text-align: left;">Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar on Tuesday, January 29, welcomed measures taken by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) following a deadly protest in Shiladze.

&ldquo;We welcome the measures and reactions taken by the administration of northern Iraq,&rdquo; Akar said, referring to the KRG.
His comments were first reported by Turkish state-owned Anadolu Agency.
On Saturday, Shiladze residents protested against Turkish airstrikes that killed four civilians in the sub-district. The protesters later stormed a Turkish military base in Shiladze, burning military equipment and vehicles.
The security forces in Duhok have begun cracking down on civilians and activists in the province, arresting dozens over the past few days.
