Baydemir was taken into custody after a verdict by a Turkish court against him. He was arrested at night in Izmir where he was attending a HDP conference, Turkish media reported.
He is set to be questioned about charges against him during a court hearing in Sirnak via video link from Izmir on Sunday morning, NRT reported.
Earlier in December, Turkish Parliament fined Baydemir with 12,000 liras ($3,100 USD) after he used the term “Kurdistan” during a parliament session.
The HDP has been hit hard by Turkish authorities with 11,500 officials and party sympathizers detained since the end of the ceasefire and peace agreement with PKK in 2015.
The HDP is accused of being a political front for the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
