In the meeting, held at Iran's Consulate General in Erbil, the Iranian diplomat Murtaza Ebadi referred to the long-lasting relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kurdistan Region in the past and called for enhancement of the ties, IRNA reported.
The Iraqi official Dindar Zerbari, for his side, echoed the view of the Iranian diplomat and extended appreciation on behalf the Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani for the condolence messages of Iranian officials on his brother's death.
Iran-Kurdistan Region diplomatic relations were tense following a dispute between Erbil and Baghdad over a separatist referendum last September in the Kurdish region.
