Iran-Kurdistan Region border crossing to be closed on Saturday

<p style="text-align:left">The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) will halt export and import of goods through Parvez Khan border crossing for 24 hours during the Iraqi parliamentary election on May 12.

According to NRT travelers will also not be allowed to cross the border point between Iran and region, said the head of communications at Parvez Khan, Aram Sayakhan.

KRG and Iraqi government officially ordered the closure of the border crossing for Saturday, May 12, for 24 hours, Sayakhan said.

Karim Sinjari, KRG Interior Minister, stated on Wednesday, May 9, that transport will be prohibited between the region&rsquo;s provinces during the parliamentary election on Saturday.

Sinjari told a press conference that only members of the electoral commission with identity card can travel between the provinces on Saturday.
