Iraqi PM Abadi calls for armed groups, PKK disarmament

<p style="text-align:left">Tuesday, June 26, called for the disarmament of all the armed groups including the Kurdistan Workers&amp;rsquo; Party (PKK) in the country.

Speaking during his weekly press conference, Abadi said the Iraqi government &ldquo;demands the disarmament of all the armed groups on Iraqi soil, particularly the PKK.&rdquo;
According to NRT he added that the government of Iraq would not allow anyone to use Iraqi territory to attack the neighboring countries.
Turkey has intensified airstrikes against PKK positions in the Qandil Mountains since Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced military operations in Qandil and Sinjar regions on June 11.
Besides airstrikes, units of Turkish army have entered 30 kilometers into northern Iraq, according to Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim. On June 21, Yildirim said Turkey had created 11 temporary military bases in northern Iraq.
