Official asks US and Europe to pressure Turkey for its inhumane treatment

A member of the Syrian Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDPS) said that it was necessary for the United States and Europe to put pressure on Turkey as it has cut off Syria's share of water from the Euphrates.

Rezan Nasan, a member of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Party (KDPS) and the former head of the Euphrates Culture Department, told KurdPress that "Turkey is not only the enemy of the Kurds but also of the entire Syrian people. Today, the inhumane action of reducing the inflow of water from the Euphrates River to Syria has created an irreparable catastrophe."

"This action by Turkey is against all international customs and human rights conventions, and it is necessary for the United Nations, the United States and Europe to put pressure on Turkey due to this inhumane behavior," he also said.

Mr. Nasan added: "From the very beginning, the autonomous administration has been looking for a solution to this issue and the problem of water shortage in the north and east of Syria, but the facilities available to this region are insignificant and allied countries need to help the administration in this regard."

He went on to add that: "There are several alternatives to solve the problem, but due to the low capacity and lack of resources and budget, it is very difficult to solve this issue at the moment and it needs a lot of support."
