Kurdistan Region leading official calls on political parties to get united

Kurdistan Region Vice President Sheikh Jaafar Mustafa said on Friday, May 21, that it is the duty of all political parties in the Region to unite for the sake of the interests of citizens and securing stability in the Region within the framework of a democratic and civil constitution.

“Unity is a step towards achieving the goals, especially now for the drafting of the Constitution,” Mustafa said in a post on Facebook.
He said that with a democratic constitution, the basic principles of the establishment of a system of governance takes its course away from the political tensions and it defines the general powers as the legislative, executive, and judiciary.
According to NRT he added that the obstacles to drafting the constitution are the lack of a single political position and unity among political parties.
“It is important that the constitution be enacted on the basis of a set of laws that protect the national, social and coexistence values and the rights of individuals in the community,” Mustafa said.
On Wednesday, officials and political leaders in the Kurdistan Region discussed the importance of unity and drafting a constitution in a conference held in Erbil.
