Turkish soldier, three locals killed in Ras al Ayn bombing

<p style="text-align:left">A Turkish gendarmerie officer was killed on Thursday by a car bomb that Kurdish forces set off in Ras al Ayn, a town in northern Syria that Turkey captured in last October&amp;rsquo;s cross-border military operation, the governorate of Turkey&amp;rsquo;s southeastern Şanliurfa province claimed.

The gendarmerie corporal and three local security personnel died after members of the Syrian Kurdish-led People&rsquo;s Protection Units (YPG) detonated the car bomb at a checkpoint on a road in the town at midday, the governorate&rsquo;s statement said.

Ten people wounded in the explosion, including seven civilians, have been moved to the state hospital in Ceylanpınar, Turkey, it said.

Turkey launched Operation Peace Spring in October to drive members of the YPG away from its Kurdish border.
