Iraqi Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed al-Sahaf said in a statement that Foreign Minister, Fouad Hussein, took part in an emergency meeting of the Arab League Council on Tuesday, June 23, via video to discuss developments in Libya and the crisis between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia over the Nahda dam, Nass News reported.
In his speech at the emergency meeting of the Arab League Council, the Iraqi foreign minister stressed on the need to resolve differences through peaceful means and called for Arab Lwague’sunity to prevent foreign interference in Arab affairs, according to the statement.
Regarding Iraq's position on the developments in Libya, Fouad Hussein said: Iraq supports all regional and international projects that help strengthening security and stability in Libya, opposes foreign interference in Libya's internal affairs and calls for the preservation of the unity of the state and its people.
Iraq supports Egypt and Sudan's rights in the waters of the Nile, Hussein said, while called for peaceful efforts to reach a final agreement to ensure a fair division of their rights.
