Erbil will send oil revenues to Baghdad, not oil: spokesman

<p style="text-align: left;">The official spokesman for the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) announced that the regional government welcomes making deal with Baghdad and is ready to hand over "oil revenues" to the central government, not " the oil itself".

Referring to a recent meeting of the KRG cabinet, Jutiar Adel said the amount of salaries paid to KRG employees depends on government revenues and financial capabilities, and the KRG makes a decision on whether to increase or reduce the amount of salaries given to the employees, the media of the region reported.

The KRG spokesperson further added that by enacting law reforms in the region, the level of the region&rsquo;s income will increase and the government&rsquo;s revenues will be provided from oil sale, domestic revenues and funds from Baghdad, and then the regional government will decide on the salary rates given to the employees and whether to reduce the salaries by 21 percent or not.

He also pointed out that regulating the salaries of high-ranking officials and reducing the large salaries and regulating the status of retired employees and the formation of a pension fund are a part of the planned reform law.

He also said that according to the regional government's decision, talks with Baghdad will continue in the framework of the constitution with regard to oil and funding, and the employees' salaries for the purpose of obtaining its financial capital and a RRG delegation will be sent back to Baghdad soon.

The spokesman for the KRG stressed that: The Kurdistan Regional Government has announced its readiness to give oil revenues to the central government of Iraq, not the "oil itself", continuing to say that the region will also send a half of its internal revenues to Baghdad in return for receiving the region's financial needs and shares.

Adel stressed that the three main political parties of the region should back the planned reforms of the regional government and abide by the reform process.
