"Western countries, especially the United States and France, are pushing for the resumption of talks between Baghdad and Erbil, and the presence of representatives from the Kurdish region among the Iraqi delegation visiting Washington was an achievement of the pressures," Shirwqan Dobardani was quoted as saying by Baghdad Al-Youm.
The Kurdistan Democratic Party Faction member added: "The French president's visit to Baghdad is another factor to pressure negotiation between Baghdad and Erbil, and the KRG calls on the federal government to implement the constitution on border crossings, the salaries of KRG employees and the budget of the Peshmerga forces. And these issues will be raised in the negotiations between the two sides and a comprehensive agreement must be reached before the adoption of the 2021 budget law."
Dobardani pointed out: Some parties in the federal government interact with the Kurdistan region from a centralist point of view, as if this region is a province under the federal government control not an autonomous region.
The official in the Iraqi parliament stated that achieving a comprehensive agreement depends on ending the intervention of regional countries in determining relations between Baghdad and Erbil and resolving the remaining issues, as well as the federal government's adherence to its commitments.
