Dutch soldiers to quit Kurdistan Region of Iraq

125 Dutch soldiers responsible for keeping the security of the Erbil International Airport will leave the Kurdistan region next week.

The Ministry of Defense of the Netherlands announced the end of the mission of its soldiers in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq by publishing a statement. 

According to this statement, since January 2021, Dutch soldiers, along with Iraqi Kurdish forces and American soldiers, have been responsible for securing the airport in Erbil, the center of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, and now their mission has ended. 

The Ministry of Defense of the Netherlands has announced the end of the military mission of its forces in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, but it has said that the Ministry of Defense's advisory office will continue to operate in Erbil to provide military advice to the Kurdish and Iraqi forces.
