According to Kurdpress, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian Interim Government, Asad Al-Shibani, in a conversation after meeting with Kurdistan Regional President Nechirvan Barzani, announced in the framework of the Munich Security Conference that the delegation of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) did not demand autonomy in its negotiations with Damascus. Referring to Barzani's support for the recent agreement between Damascus and the SDF, he emphasized that the Syrian government is committed to creating a unified country. A country that guarantees the rights and security of all parties, including the Kurds.
"Kurdistan Regional President" Nechirvan Barzani and "Assad Al-Shibani", Foreign Minister of the interim government of Syria, met each other on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference and discussed the developments in Syria and the recent agreement between Damascus and the SDF.
After this meeting, the Foreign Minister of the interim government of Syria described his meeting with Barzani as "very positive" and said that the meetings between the two sides are continuing and the first meeting was held earlier in Munich.
He added that Nechirvan Barzani once again emphasized his support for the current agreement with the SDF and declared his support for the unity and territorial integrity of Syria, the necessity of convergence and prioritizing the national interests of Syria.
In response to a question about the possibility of a request for autonomy from the SDF, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the interim government of Syria said: "Such a request has not been made, but we believe in a unified Syria that guarantees the rights and security of all parties, including the Kurds."
He also stated about the relations between Damascus and Washington that the US supports the Syrian government and supports the country's territorial unity and the success of the current stage. According to him, the United States has a pragmatic approach to the issue of lifting sanctions against Syria and supports the reconstruction process.
At the end of the meeting, the Syrian Foreign Minister evaluated this meeting as a positive step in the direction of the current Syrian government's policies.
