According to Kurdpress, in a large gathering that was held in the city of Dirk, Syrian Kurdistan, with the presence of hundreds of people, "Elham Ahmed", the co-head of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Autonomous Administration, and "Rohlat Afrin", the commander of the Women's Protection Units (YPJ), emphasized that they want to recognize the rights of Kurds in the framework of Syria and guarantee their place in any future political agreement.
According to Ronahi Network, this meeting was held at the initiative of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) and started with a minute of silence in honor of the dead.
In his speech, Elham Ahmed, the co-chairman of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Self-governing Administration, referring to the recent developments, said: "At the current stage, important changes have occurred; "Especially in connection with the Kurdish issue, which has now become an international issue."
He added: "In international meetings, the Kurdish issue has become the main part of the discussions. It is very important that the Syrian government recognizes the rights of the Kurdish people within the framework of this country. This recognition will be an essential step towards building a democratic and united Syria.
Elham Ahmad also pointed out some shortcomings and emphasized that the unity, strength and sacrifices of the Kurdish people have failed all plans designed to weaken them.
This Kurdish official addressed the situation of the besieged areas, including Kobani, as well as the areas outside the control of the autonomous administration, such as Afrin and Sarekani, and said: "Kobani is still facing a siege and serious problems, but we are working to improve the situation there. "Our goal is to provide the basis for the return of the people of Afrin and to return to their homes."
She also called for a quick solution to the issue of detainees and missing persons in the areas of recent conflicts and emphasized the continuation of the struggle to establish the rights of the Kurdish people in any future political agreement. According to him, the Kurdish people will not accept any retreat from their rights.
Elham Ahmad further called for the organization of the Kurdish society as much as possible and to strengthen its defense power in order to stand against any new attempts to exclude or marginalize.
In the continuation of this meeting, Rohlat Afrin, the commander of the YPJ, referring to the sacrifices of the Kurdish people in the fight against ISIS, said: "These sacrifices are a turning point in the history of the Kurds. "Thousands of dead and wounded were sacrificed, and this formed the foundations of our people's resistance and strength."
She added: "We will not forget the genocide and displacement that we suffered for years, and we will not allow denial policies to be imposed on us. We have fought and sacrificed. "We will not back down from our rights and dignity."
Rohlat Afrin described the current stage as sensitive and dangerous for the Kurdish people and said that any future political agreement must guarantee the rights of the Kurdish people and recognize their place in the region.
She also emphasized the role of the Kurds of Syrian Kurdistan, other Kurdish regions and Europe in supporting the struggle and said: "Any political agreement must respect our struggle and resistance. We will not give up on this fight under any circumstances."
At the end of her speech, the YPJ commander emphasized: "We will continue organizing, we will maintain our achievements, and the struggle against the occupying forces and the policies that seek to deny our rights will continue."
