According to Kurdpress, the Iraqi parliament's meeting to elect a president is held again in the shadow of doubts about the completion of the legal quorum, which is rooted in the dissatisfaction of a party it does not have differences, but opens the macro structure of the Iraqi political system and Iraqi constitution.

In the meantime, figures such as Faeq Zidane and Nouri Al-Maliki, who are mentioned as two actors of the deep government, played a significant role in establishing this interpretation; it was this interpretation of Article 70 of the Iraqi constitution that thwarted the majority government project after the October 2021 elections.

Today, however, the Iraqi political scene is witnessing a significant turn, the same Nouri Al-Maliki, who faced the KDP in 2022, is now acting in a tactical manner with Massoud Barzani. The purpose of this unwritten alliance is to prevent the completion of the meeting quorum and the management of political time, in other words, the suspended third has been transferred from the Patriotic Union to the Democratic Party.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump's previous opposition to Al-Maliki's return to power remains in Baghdad's political calculations, and the same time the ongoing negotiations between Iran and United States, which are taking place in Islamabad after weeks of regional tensions, directly affect the balance of forces in Iraq.

Today's deadlock in Baghdad is a sign of a crisis in the architecture of the Iraqi political system.
