Envoy says Russia would its best to prevent a Turkish invasion on northern Syria

Russia ambassador to Iraq said his country would do its best to prevent a Turkish invasion on northeastern Syria.

Elbrus Kutrashev stated on Thursday, November 4, that his country was doing its best to prevent a Turkish invasion against northeastern Syria.

The Russian ambassador called Turkey's action dangerous and noted that his country has great differences with Ankara and at the same time the two countries cooperate in many fields.

"We only play a sovereign role. We will do our best to stop Turkey and prevent an attack on northeastern Syria, because we consider it very dangerous," the Russian ambassador told Rudaw.

"Our position is clear, no matter where it happens, in Syria, Iraq or any other country," he said, adding that Turkey may be planning a new military operation aimed at attacking northeastern Syria and "we oppose unauthorized foreign intervention."

Kutrashev described the demographic change in Afrin as a catastrophic.
