The war monitor said five members of "essential protection forces,” and eight members of SDF and Asayish (security forces) were killed in three locations in the countryside of Hasaka, northeast Syria.

The SDF media center announced Turkish attacks began on Saturday and continued sporadically until Sunday morning.

Eleven civilian medics were killed while attempting to aid a worker at a power station during attacks on a village in the countryside in Derik (al-Malikiya) in Hasaka, according to SDF General Command. The worker was also killed and six others injured, NRT reported.

Air strikes on Kobane also wounded three civilians and caused severe damage to homes, SDF command said.

The head of the SDF Media Center, Farhad Shami, announced Essam Abdullah, a correspondent from Hawar News, was killed in the bombardment at Derik. He also stated a reporter from Sterk TV was wounded in Kobane.

Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) confirmed a number of Syrian army personnel were killed in Turkey’s attacks on the countryside in Aleppo and Hasaka.

The Kurdistan Counter Terrorism Directorate also reported the Turkish military targeted locations in the Kurdistan Region, including in Mawet district, the base of the Qandil mountains, the Kurtak and Asos mountains and in Bradost.

Turkey’s defense ministry claimed 89 targets in Syria and the Kurdistan Region were destroyed. Reuters cited the Turkish ministry as including shelters, tunnels, and ammunition depots among the targets.

The operation was launched in retaliation for the bombing on Istiklal Avenue in Istanbul on November 13 that killed six and injured 80.

Turkey has blamed the PKK and Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) for the attack, a charge the groups deny.
