Javad Zarif, Masrour Barzani discuss ties

<p style="text-align: left;">Iran Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met Kurdistan Region Intelligence and Security Chief Masrour Barzani on Tuesday, January 15, in Erbil.

Within his 4-day tour to Iraq, Zarif arrived in Erbil early Tuesday and met Masrour Barzani after having a meeting with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani.

The Iranian FM is planned to hold a meeting with the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Leader Masoud Barzani.

A conference on exploring ways to develop bilateral economic and commercial relations was held with the attendance of Zarif and economic officials and businessmen in Erbil.

Zarif will leave Erbil for Sulaimani, another main city in the Kurdish-dominated area, on Tuesday.

Arrived in Baghdad on January 13, the Iranian foreign minister has so far visited some Iraqi officials, namely Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi, President Barham Salih, Speaker of the Council of Representatives of Iraq Mohamed al-Halbousi, Head of the National Wisdom Movement of Iraq Ammar Hakim, Iraqi member of Parliament Hadi Al-Amiri and heads and members of Iraqi religious, political, cultural, ethnical and social bodies.
