The doors of negotiation are open between the KDP and the PUK and talks between the two sides would continue until a deal is made, Pishewa Hewramani stated about talks between the two parties over the formation of the new government in the region, stressing that the talks are under way and it is very soon to talk about any failure in the talks.
Hewramani added that the reform of the region’s presidency law is a priority of the KDP faction in the new parliament, calling the salaries of the region’s clerks as the second priority of the party.
Answering a question about a recently-made deal between the KDP and the Movement for Change (Gorran), the deputy stated that providing the security and the stability of the region is the main issue in talks between parties and such deals are significant as citizens demand political stability and peace.
Hewrami denied claims that the KDP is attempting to marginalize the PUK in making the deal with Gorran, clarifying that his would have not had any meeting with the PUK if it was following the goal and would close doors of negotiation.
Latif Sheikh Omder, the PUK Spokesman, told Kurdpress in an inclusive interview on Friday February 21 that the main tension between his party and the KDP is Kirkuk; an issue that Hewramani reiterated on its importance as the KDP and its fans want the normalization of the situation in the oil-rich Kurdish-majority disputed province and then the election of a governor but said the PUK wants to appoint a governor before the situation is normalized in Kirkuk.
