Officials from Washington welcomed the move and explained that the two European countries would contribute 10% to 15% more elite soldiers, as reported by The Guardian.
Foreign Policy, as a first source for the news, described the decision as "a major victory … for Donald Trump’s national security team" because few other countries had been willing to help out.
Washington had already asked Berlin to send ground forces to the Middle Eastern country, but the request was soon rejected.
