Contradictory reports over new U.S. military base in Kurdistan Region

<p style="text-align:left">A commander of the Kurdish forces of Peshmerga denied claims by a deputy from the Iraqi State f Law Coalition that the U.S. is planning to establish a military base in Kurdistan Region.

According to SNN news website the deputy Jasem Muhammad claimed that the U.S. is planning to create the base without letting the Iraqi central government know about.

Sergeant Qahraman Sheikh Kamal denied the claim and stated that there are no information over the report, adding that the U.S. should let the Peshmerga ministry know about any such decision.

Meanwhile a leading member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Hawkar Jaff stated there are a number of U.S. bases in the disputed regions, which both Baghdad and Erbil claim authority over, and reiterated that the presence of U.S. forces in the regions helps peaceful existence between the tribes of the region and is an important factor in supporting the Kurds in Iraq.
