Malla Bakhtiar warns Baghdad is planning to amend article 140

<p style="text-align: left;">A senior official from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) has warned of Baghdad&rsquo;s intention to continue neglecting article 140 from the Iraqi Constitution which is about the future of the disputed Kurdish territories.

“The Shi’ites who have controlled the rule of Iraq does not want to implement article 140. I personally am concerned about the future of Iraq,” Mala Bakhtiyar, executive head of the PUK politburo office, said during a debate organized by Kurdistan 24 Centre for Research.

According to Kurdistan 24 he also warned that the Iraqi Shi’ite factions are planning to amend article 140 as they are the majority in the parliament and, therefore, able to solely pass it.
