KDP, PUK discuss Kirkuk in Monday meeting

Delegations from the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) held a meeting on Monday in Erbil where the issue of Kirkuk was discussed.

Rebaz Berkoti, head of PUK bloc at the Erbil provincial council, said the sides mainly discussed the ongoing crisis in Kirkuk.
Besides the appointment of a new Kurdish governor for Kirkuk, they also focused on the upcoming provincial elections in the disputed province that has already been opposed by the Kurds who believe the situation in Kirkuk is not favorable for a fair and free election.
According to Berkoti, the two parties also talked about the remaining positions at the new cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), including deputy ministers and general directors .
