Referring to remarks by the former US Envoy to Syrian affairs, William Roebuck, who stated that Washington "has explicitly stated to the Syrian Democratic Army that we do not support the establishment of an independent Kurdish state in the region," Qadri Jan, a member of the regional delegation of the Syrian Kurdistan Democratic Party and also a member of the ENKS representative delegation in Qamishli, said "Mr. Roebuck is no longer in the US government today, but I do not think there will be a change in US foreign policy strategy."
He continued: "The new US representative in the negotiations between Syrian Kurds has come to the region and has held talks with all parties, but there is still no news about US goals."
"Two days ago, the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) issued a statement, announcing that the US goal is not to protect Syria's oil wells, but it has come to Syria to fight the ISIS," the Kurdish official said.
He went on to add that: "These statements are a kind of message to the PYD that sabotages the Kurdish-Kurdish talks and it is also a kind of message to Turkey and Russia."
"Every day, US military equipment and weapons trucks enter Syrian Kurdistan, indicating that the United States has no plans to leave Syria at this time," he said.
