According to Russia Today, al-Kadhimi said at a cabinet meeting: "This terrorist act coincides with the government's great efforts to calm the situation in the region and keep the country away from tensions and prevent it from turning into a private yard for creating crises."

The Iraqi Prime Minister added: "We have ordered a joint investigation between the central government and the Kurdistan Regional Government to arrest criminals."
