Turkish army fighters heavily bombarded the heights of the Shiladze area of Duhok province in the Kurdistan Region.

According to the report Mount Korja, were targeted several times in a row and the sound of rocket fire could be heard a long way away.

The Turkish army has recently launched a large-scale air and ground operation against various parts of the Kurdistan Region, especially Dohuk province, trying to seize strategic areas of the province.
So far, Turkish troops have penetrated several kilometers deep into the region and have established military bases.
It should be noted that there were earlier violent protests in Shiladze against the presence of Turkish troops in the area and residents set fire to a Turkish military base in Shiladze, but the protesters were arrested and detained by security forces affiliated with the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).
Meanwhile former head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s (KDP) Leadership Council in Sulaimani Adham Barzani warned that Kurdistan Region is facing another military occupation and environmental genocide by the Turkish army.
Speaking about the ongoing military campaign by Turkey in the Kurdistan Region he said on Saturday, May 29, that whenever the Turkish state has occupied a piece of territory, it has never withdrawn from it.
Turkey justifies its actions as necessary to combat the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which has conducted a decades-long insurgency for Kurdish rights and autonomy and has bases in the Kurdish region.
There have been no reported civilian casualties since Ankara launched Operation Claw-Lightning on April 23, but at least twelve civilians have been killed in Turkish airstrikes since Ankara launched Operation Claw-Eagle last June.
Over the past month of the new operation, hundreds of villagers have been displaced and several have been wounded, including two shepherds in Duhok provi who were hurt in Turkish shelling on Wednesday.
Airstrikes and cross-border raids often destroy or drive people off valuable grazing and agricultural land, sparking fires that burn crops.
Barzani called on the United Nations and Iraq’s federal government to limit Turkey’s occupation of parts of the Kurdistan Region.
He demanded Turkey resolve its dispute with the PKK inside Turkey itself.
