Enemies attempting to incite intra-Kurdish conflict: KRG vice president

Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Vice President Sheikh Jaafar Mustafa said on Friday, June 18, that there is an effort to incite an unwanted war between the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and the Peshmerga in the Kurdistan Region.

What is currently happening is the plan of the enemies of the Kurdish people and that he hoped that Kurds in the world will unite to find a root solution to all oppression that has been carried out against them throughout history, Mustafa said in a post on Facebook.
He said that he does not agree with the arrival of any foreign force that violates the sovereignty of the Region, adding that he respects any political parties that are on the Region’s soil and are allowed to perform political activities, but will always oppose internal conflict and instability, NRT reported.
Standing against each other serves the people’s enemies, buries all the dreams and goals of the days of struggle, and wastes the blood of martyrs, he added.
In late April, Turkey renewed its military campaign in the Kurdistan Region, justifying its actions as necessary to combat the PKK. Since then, at least four civilians have been killed in Turkish airstrikes and four others wounded.
Christian Peacemaker Teams recently reported that at least 1,500 villagers have been displaced in less than two months.
Mustafa’s remarks come more than a week after the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) accused the PKK of killing six Peshmerga in two sperate incidents in Duhok governorate, which the PKK denies.
