PUK, KDP hold joint meeting in Erbil

<p style="text-align: left;">The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) held a meeting in Erbil on Sunday.

Hosted by Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and attended by the PUK co-leader Bafel Talabani, the two sides candidly discussed issues, disagreements, bilateral relations between KDP and PUK and the current affairs of the Kurdistan Region.

The need to strengthen relations between the KDP and the PUK and also among all political parties and communities in the Kurdistan Region was emphasized in order to attain unity and consensus, Kurdistan Region presidency said in a statement.

It was also stressed that maintaining unity is a prerequisite to confront the current difficulties which has risen due to the COVID-19 pandemic; including the economic crisis and other issues that are currently facing the Kurdistan Region.

According to the statement both sides agreed to continue with their talks and to work together to find solutions for the current hardships that are facing the people of the Kurdistan Region and reiterated their commitment to the bilateral agreements, supporting the Kurdistan Region institutions and joint cooperation in the parliament and the Kurdistan Regional Government.
