Syrian Democratic Council denounces “Turkish attack” on Sulaimani airport

Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) condemned on Saturday the attack that targeted Sulaimani International Airport in Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI).

This came in a statement released by the SDC on the background of the Friday attack on Sulaimani airport.
The SDC, that works as the political wing of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), said, “The Turkish government intentionally violates the international law, rules of good-neighborly, and it threatens the lives of the civilians through direct and indirect interference.”
The SDC statement added that the Turkish attack on Sulaimani aims at destabilizing the Iraqi community that is a main partner in the war against terrorism.
The SDC called on the international community to close the Syrian and Iraqi airspaces in front of the Turkish attacks and to condemn the aggressive and arbitrary act that aims at hindering the counter-terrorism efforts.
Earlier today, on Saturday, The Commander in Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, condemned the attack on Sulaimani International Airport that Turkey is suspected of having carried out on Friday, noting that the “patriotic and humanitarian” stances of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) party annoy Turkey.
Spokesperson of the US Department of Defense, Phillip Ventura, told North Press that the US forces oppose threats against US personnel and will remain in Iraq and Syria to achieve the enduring defeat of ISIS.
