The possibility of targeting the Iraqi Kurdistan region

Jahan Service- Walid Fars, Donald Trump's former adviser, warned that if the Kurds are defeated in northeastern Syria and the Kurdish self-government collapses in this region, the Iraqi Kurdistan Region could become the next target of security threats and jihadist attacks, and only military coordination between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Kurdistan Regional Forces will be able to curb this scenario.

According to Kurdpress, Walid Fars, the former adviser to Donald Trump, the former American president, warned about the consequences of the possible defeat of the Kurds in northeastern Syria and announced that in the event of the collapse of the Kurdish self-government in Syria, the Kurdistan Region of Iraq could become the next target of security and jihadist threats.

Referring to the experience of the emergence of ISIS in the past years, Fars emphasized that this group had simultaneously targeted the northeast of Syria and the north of Iraq, and only the coordination of the Kurdish forces on both sides of the border could prevent its progress. According to him, in the current situation, the only way to deal with "jihadi attacks" in the region is military cooperation and coordination between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the forces of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.

Trump's former adviser also warned that jihadist forces active in Syria are trying to cut off the communication path of the Syrian Kurds with the Kurdistan Region of Iraq; An action that can lead to the complete isolation of the Kurds in northern Syria and weaken the strategic position of the Kurdistan region.

At the same time, he implicitly criticized the prioritization of economic interests and energy contracts in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and said that the influence of these interests has so far prevented the formation of effective military coordination between Erbil and Syrian Kurdish forces. An issue that he believes can have serious security implications for the entire region.
