According to Kurdpress, on Friday, 01/30/2026, Barzani's office, the head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, published the details of the phone call between Masoud Barzani and Tom Barak, the US President's special envoy for Syria.

Based on this announcement, Tom Barak, on behalf of himself and the President of the United States, expressed his gratitude and special thanks to Massoud Barzani for his outstanding role and positions in supporting the establishment of a ceasefire and advancing the dialogue between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

In this call, Massoud Barzani's role in reaching today's agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces was described as very effective and worthy of praise.

Massoud Barzani also expressed his support for today's agreement, which was made in order to stabilize peace, while expressing special gratitude to the American president and all the parties who have played a role in resolving the differences through dialogue.

He also appreciated Tom Barak's influential role in reaching an agreement and promoting peace in the region in general and in Syria in particular.
