Completion of the integration plan of Peshmerga forces by the end of March 2026

According to Kurdpress, according to an official of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government, the integration program of the Peshmerga forces of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region will be completed by the end of this month.

This process, which is carried out under the supervision of the international coalition against ISIS, includes the integration of the forces of the 80th unit affiliated with the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the 70th unit affiliated with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan in the Ministry of Peshmerga as two independent brigades.

These two units constitute the majority of Peshmerga forces and more than 150,000 military forces are affiliated to the two ruling parties in the Kurdistan region.

Bakhtiar Mohammad, Secretary General of the Ministry of Peshmerga, told "New Region" "Regarding the integration of Peshmerga forces, there is a very good understanding and progress from all sides, and all efforts are aimed at completing this process by March 1 this year."

He also expressed the hope that by the end of this week, the final decision will be made regarding the designation of military units that will include different brigades and divisions.

One of the key goals of the 9th Cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government has been the reform and integration of the Peshmerga forces, and a number of brigades under the control of the two parties have already joined the Peshmerga Ministry.

The integration of the Peshmerga forces is part of the understanding between the Ministry of Peshmerga and the global coalition led by the United States, and it is expected to create more stability and harmony in the military structure of the region.
