Depriving the Kurds of the post of Chief of Staff of the Army is a dangerous beginning

Service of Iraq and Kurdistan Region - The head of the faction of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in the Iraqi Parliament considered the parliament's decision on the post of the head of the army to be a violation of the constitution and said that this action was done without a political agreement and against parliamentary custom.

According to Kurdpress, Shahevan Abdullah, the head of the faction of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in the Iraqi Parliament, described the action of the parliament regarding the removal of the post of the head of the Iraqi army from the Kurds as a "very bad start" and considered it a clear violation of the constitution and the convention of consensus in the decision-making process of the parliament.

He said that what happened today in the parliament will be answered soon with the joint statement of the Kurdistan factions on this issue.

According to Shahvan Abdullah, these items were added to the agenda of the meeting without the consent of the board of directors and contrary to previous agreements.

The head of the faction of the Democratic Party emphasized that Kurds and Sunni representatives did not attend the meeting in coordination and it was agreed that no new issues would be added to the agenda, but this commitment was violated.

He considered this action of the Speaker of the Parliament as a clear violation of Article 36 of the Constitution.

Referring to the political rights of the Kurds, Shahvan Abdullah added: "The issue is not just one person or one post; There are nearly seven institutions at the level of the ministry, none of which are in the hands of the Kurds, and now the position of the head of the army staff has been taken from the Kurds. According to him, this action is considered as "reducing the weight and position of the Kurds in the power structure."

He also announced that the attempt to reduce the number of Kurdish representatives in the parliamentary commissions to three was also unacceptable, and for this reason, the Kurdish factions refused to nominate candidates.
